Description and details
ORIENT MULTI-YEAR CALENDAR ref. 8Y46946724-B37, 1971
The Orient Multi-Year Calendar is one of the most distinctive models from the Japanese brand in the 1970s. Its elaborate dial, multi-year calendar function, and large case for its era made the series easily recognizable among vintage watch enthusiasts.
The presented timepiece dates back to approximately 1971 and retains the styling typical of the first generations of the Multi-Year Calendar. The model is equipped with an automatic Orient cal. 46941 movement, a steel case with a diameter of approximately 42.5 mm, and an original steel bracelet.
Multi-Year Calendar
The most distinctive feature of the model is its elaborate Multi-Year Calendar system. By properly setting the inner ring, one can read the day of the week and date for individual months and years.
It was this unusual, information-filled dial that earned the model its distinctive nicknames in Poland: "Patelnia" (Frying Pan) and "Orient Cesarski" (Imperial Orient).
The first Orient watches with the Multi-Year Calendar function appeared in the 1960s, and the concept was later developed in subsequent generations.
