Description and details
Favre Leuba Sea King ref. 61093
The Favre Leuba Sea King ref. 61093 is an elegant, classic vintage watch with manual winding, from one of the most distinguished brands in the history of Swiss watchmaking. The Sea King model combines serene, timeless aesthetics with an interesting mechanical and historical background.
The presented piece dates from approximately 1967-1970. The watch is equipped with a mechanical, hand-wound Favre Leuba Calibre 251 movement, a stainless steel case subsequently gold-plated, a screw-down case back, an original signed crown, and a brown leather strap.
Movement
At the heart of the watch is the mechanical hand-wound Favre Leuba Calibre 251 movement. This movement was produced in-house by Favre Leuba, valued for its slim design, robustness, and interesting technical solutions.
The Calibre FL 251 was introduced by Favre Leuba in 1962. The movement was notable for using two mainspring barrels, which was intended to ensure more stable operation and a longer power reserve. Such a design was an ambitious technical solution, especially in a slim, hand-wound movement.
The movement operates at a frequency of 18,000 vibrations per hour. Its diameter is approximately 26 mm, and its thickness is only about 2.95 mm. The power reserve is approximately 50 hours, which was a very good result for a hand-wound movement from that period.
The movement is one of Favre Leuba's more interesting constructions and clearly demonstrates the brand's watchmaking ambitions, which throughout its history was not limited to classic elegant watches, but also created technical solutions that stood out from the competition.
Case and Dial
The watch case is made of stainless steel and then gold-plated. It has a classic, round shape and elegant proportions characteristic of watches from the late 1960s and early 1970s.
The case diameter is approximately 30.5 mm without the crown, the width with the crown is about 33 mm, the height is about 8 mm, and the "lug to lug" measurement is about 38 mm. These are typical dimensions for elegant vintage watches that fit well on the wrist and maintain a subtle, classic character.
The case features an original, signed Favre Leuba crown and a screw-down case back. These are important structural elements that emphasize the practical nature of the watch and the brand's commitment to solid craftsmanship.
The watch is equipped with hesalite crystal. Acrylic crystal, also known as hesalite or plexiglass, is a lightweight, relatively shatter-resistant material often found in historical watches. It is more prone to scratches than sapphire crystal, but its advantage is the ability to polish out minor scratches. For this reason, hesalite remains valued in vintage watches and models with a historical character.
Strap
The watch is fitted with a brown leather strap. The strap is of high quality and complements the gold-plated case and the classic character of the watch well.
The strap size is 18 mm. The brown leather gives the watch an elegant, warm, and serene look, well suited to its vintage style.
Watch Condition
The watch is a used item. It may show natural signs of wear due to age, previous use, and the nature of a vintage watch. The detailed visual condition is presented in the product photos.
For watches from this period, natural signs of age are part of the item's history. The photos are an integral part of the description and show the actual appearance of the offered watch.

The product is covered by a 100-day Dial-House warranty. The warranty covers the correct operation of the watch mechanism, excluding mechanical damage, water damage, improper use, natural wear of consumables, and interference by third parties.
History of the Favre Leuba Brand
Favre Leuba is one of the oldest watchmaking brands in the world. Its history dates back to the 18th century and the town of Le Locle, one of the most important centers of Swiss watchmaking.
Abraham Favre began his watchmaking apprenticeship with Daniel Gagnebin in 1718, at the age of just 16. On March 13, 1737, Abraham Favre was first mentioned in an official document as an independent watchmaker operating in Le Locle.
In 1815, after joining forces with Auguste Leuba, the company Favre Leuba was founded. The brand developed over subsequent generations, with representatives of the Favre and Leuba families traveling worldwide, bringing their watches to European and Asian markets.
Fritz Favre's children, representing the sixth generation of the Favre family in the watch industry, played a significant role in building the brand's recognition in Asia. With the expansion of its operations, Favre Leuba moved its facilities from Le Locle to Geneva in 1896.
Favre Leuba also became famous for many technical innovations. The brand's history includes the Bivouac, considered the first mechanical wristwatch with an altimeter, later developed into the Raider Bivouac 9000. The brand also created the Bathy, a mechanical diving watch with a depth gauge.
In 1962, Favre Leuba introduced the Calibre FL 251, a slim, hand-wound movement with a double mainspring barrel and approximately 50 hours of power reserve. This movement clearly demonstrates the brand's technical ambitions and its pursuit of creating solutions that stood out from the competition.
