Description and details
Omega Geneve Dynamic I Automatic ref. 163.039
The Omega Geneve Dynamic I Automatic ref. 163.039 is a distinctive, elegant Omega watch from one of the most recognizable and bold collections of the late 1960s and early 1970s. The Dynamic model stands out with its oval case, integrated bracelet, and a vibrant, multicolored dial that gives the watch a unique character.
The presented piece dates to approximately 1970, according to the numbers visible on the movement. The watch is equipped with an automatic Omega Calibre 565 movement, a stainless steel case about 41 mm wide without the crown, an Omega signed crown, and an original, signed Omega bracelet. The watch is in very good technical condition and runs accurately, as confirmed by the timegrapher photo.
Movement
At the heart of the watch is the automatic Omega Calibre 565 movement. This is a highly regarded Omega manufacture movement from the 56x series, known for its durability, smooth operation, and high precision. Calibre 565 is very popular among collectors and watchmakers, mainly due to its solid construction, reliability, and good service availability.
The movement has 24 jewels, operates at a frequency of 19,800 vibrations per hour, and offers approximately 42 hours of power reserve. The caliber's construction is based on the esteemed Omega 56x series of movements, which over the years earned an excellent reputation as a durable and practical base for daily use.
An important feature of this movement is the quick-set date function, activated by pulling the crown to the second position, often referred to as the "pump" method. In the presented piece, this function works correctly. The movement runs evenly, and its technical condition has been documented with a timegrapher photo.
Case and Dial
The watch case is made of stainless steel and features the characteristic oval shape typical of the Omega Geneve Dynamic collection. Its width is approximately 41 mm without the crown and approximately 43 mm with the crown. The case thickness is about 10 mm, and the "lug to lug" measurement is approximately 43 mm.
The case's form is not accidental. In Dynamic models, the shape was developed with wearing comfort and wrist anatomy in mind. The oval case fits well on the wrist, and the integrated construction gives the watch a cohesive, modern, and highly recognizable look.
The dial is one of the strongest elements of this model. The multicolored composition with concentric zones gives the watch a dynamic character and improves legibility. It was dials of this type that made the Dynamic collection one of Omega's most distinctive lines of that period.
The crown is signed with the Omega logo and is subtly integrated into the side of the case. This solution emphasizes the clean, aerodynamic line of the watch and is one of the distinguishing details of the Dynamic design.
Bracelet
The watch is equipped with an original, integrated Omega bracelet made of stainless steel. The bracelet is signed and fits wrists up to approximately 24 cm in circumference, which is a great advantage for vintage watches, where shorter bracelets are often found.
The distinctive links blend very well with the oval case and emphasize the aesthetic of the Dynamic collection. The satin-polished finish gives the whole an elegant appearance, while maintaining the watch's sporty-vintage character.
The ensemble is completed by the original clasp signed with the Omega logo. The bracelet is an important element of this model, as in the Dynamic collection, the case and bracelet form one cohesive unit.
Watch Condition
The watch is a used piece, in very good technical condition. The movement operates correctly and evenly, as confirmed by the timegrapher photo. The detailed visual condition is presented in the product photos.
For vintage watches, natural signs of wear are part of the piece's history. The watch may show minor signs of age and previous use typical for models of this period. The photos are an integral part of the description and show the actual appearance of the offered watch.
Set and Warranty
The watch is sold as a used item. The detailed scope of the set is visible in the product photos.
The product is covered by a 100-day Dial-House warranty. The warranty covers the correct functioning of the watch movement, excluding mechanical damage, water damage, improper use, natural wear of consumable parts, and interference by third parties.
History of the Omega Geneve Dynamic Collection
Omega Geneve Dynamic watches were created in 1967 and premiered in 1968. The collection's designer was Raymond Thévenaz. The name "Dynamic" refers to the case shape, which resulted from an in-depth analysis of wrist anatomy.
The goal of the design was to create a watch that not only looked modern but also felt exceptionally comfortable on the wrist. At a time when digital design was just beginning, the Dynamic line stood out with a very modern approach to form, ergonomics, and legibility.
The characteristic elliptical case was not merely a matter of style. It was designed to conform to the natural shape of the wrist. The dial with concentric time zones improved legibility, even with strongly contrasting hands and indices.
What also distinguishes the Geneve Dynamic is the architecture of the case and strap. The case has an elliptical shape, while the dial and movement remain round. The case was manufactured by the Italian producer Fernando Fontana from Sesto Calende. The upper part of the case has a sunburst finish, and the lower part has a brushed finish.
The integration of the crown into the side of the case ensures that the watch maintains a clean, streamlined profile. It is this combination of ergonomics, unusual form, and recognizable dial that makes the Omega Geneve Dynamic still valued by vintage watch enthusiasts today.
